One of the neat things Apple added to System 6.0.1 was the ability to enhance the small icons used throughout the system. For example, when you use a ╥standard file╙ open or save dialog there is a list of files with small icons to the left of each file. Unfortunately, these small icons are usually boring ╥generic╙ document icons.
More Icons is not a program in the usual sense. There╒s no interface, you don╒t double-click it, in fact, it╒s not even a program╤╤it╒s an init! When More Icons is installed, the following icons will be available to the system if it needs them:
Ñ Graphic/Paint documents
Ñ Teach documents
Ñ AWGS Word Processor documents
Ñ Sounds (sound resource files, etc)
Ñ Songs (SoundSmith, MIDI Synth, etc)
Ñ Instrument
Ñ Stationery
Ñ New Desk Accessory
Ñ Classic Desk Accessory
Ñ Object oriented graphic documents
Ñ Databases
Ñ Spreadsheets
Ñ Communication files
Ñ TrueType fonts
Ñ Fonts
Ñ Permanent Inits
Ñ Temporary Inits
Ñ Softdisk Issue Text
More Icons represents something we are trying to do more of on Softdisk G-S: not only provide big, meaty programs, but also small, fun things! Let us know what you think of this goal!
The Fine Print
Please note that More Icons requires System 6.0.1╤╤it will not even be loaded into memory under System 6.0.
Copying More Icons
Select ╥Installer...╙ from the File Menu (or press I) and the Installer will be launched. Then highlight ╥More Icons╙ by clicking on it. Next, be sure the disk you want to copy the files to is inserted and click on the Disk button until that disk comes up. Click on the Install button and the copying will be done.
Remember: there is a paragraph on using the Installer in the Help article. Check it out if you are confused by the terminology.
